It’s no secret that I love Daily Harvest. The convenience of a health meal that heats up in minutes has always been an appealing idea to me since college when I thought Lean Cuisines were the epitome of health.
I know better now. Healthy convenience to me now looks like a plant-heavy, organic meal that tastes great and is delivered in bio-degradable packaging so I don’t feel like I’m killing the earth with my convenience.
What is Daily Harvest?
Daily Harvest has been a staple in my freezer since I discovered it 8+ months ago. They are an organic frozen meal delivery service that offers produce-packed meals that heat up quickly and are delicious!
They a wide variety of products including savory harvest bowls, energy bites, lattes, smoothies, soups, flatbreads, scoops (an ice cream type product), and Mylk (frozen cubes of plant milk that contain no thickening gums, preservatives, or sugars).
I have tried a lot of their products (except for energy bites and scoops), but I’m partial to the flatbreads and harvest bowls myself.
My Favorite Daily Harvest Meals
Artichoke + Lemon
With kohlrabi, parsnip, artichoke, fennel, almond, and cumin, it’s one of my favorites because it includes vegetables I don’t often prepare a lot of myself.
Leek + Fonio Grits
With fonio, kale, parsnip, cauliflower, leek, and pickled pepper. This one has a nice spice thanks to the pickled pepper and since I never buy fonio (a naturally gluten-free grain), this is a favorite of mine.
Artichoke + Spinach Flatbread
Inspired by a flatbread pizza, this flatbread crust is made from BROCCOLI! And cassava root flour. It also has cauliflower, tahini, thyme, flaxseeds, and more wholesome ingredients making it a healthy and delicious choice. I also always add a splash of hot sauce!
Raspberry + Mulberry Seed
I typically choose savory meals over anything, but this unique blend of raspberries, apple, almond, cauliflower, butternut squash, pumpkin seeds, and coconut heats up to a hearty and tasty breakfast or afternoon snack.
Broccoli + Cheeze
No real dairy here, but this broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato, olive oil, and nutritional yeast combo will give you a similar cozy feeling in a healthier way.
Kale + Lemongrass
This veggie-packed option with sweet potato, kale, coconut, tamari, and lemongrass is one of my favorite go-tos for when I have leftover chicken to cut up and toss into a bowl. The flavors go really well together!
Lentil + Cremini Soup
With French lentils, cremini mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, black garlic, thyme, and maitake makes for a quick and nourishing lunch option on a busy day.
Quinoa + Chipotle
With zucchini, quinoa, tomato, purple corn, mesquite, and chipotle is a newer addition to my orders, but it’s riding in the ranks. The chewiness of the purple corn adds a great texture and it also pairs well with grilled chicken or tempeh.
A few last notes about Daily Harvest:
- The meals all heat up in under 5 minutes in the microwave.
- For me, they are best paired with a protein source. The meals pack in the veggies and flavor, but need a boiled egg, roasted tofu, or leftover chicken to bulk it up in the protein department.
